Luton-based water meter manufacturer Elster Water Metering has won a coveted award at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2014.

The company was presented with a trophy at a prestigious ceremony on Tuesday 30 September at WMG, University of Warwick, after winning the AESSEAL Award for Customer Focus.

Christopher Simpson, Chairman of the Manufacturing Excellence Awards Executive, said:

“The judges were hugely impressed with how much time and effort the people of Elster devote to putting customers first.

“Each of Elster’s customers has a specific point of contact, and rather than showcasing their products at exhibitions, prospective customers are invited on-site for one-to-one tours and briefings.

“The company’s after-sales package and regular customer service surveys also help the company achieve excellent customer service.

“Elster Water Metering is an exemplary company and very worthy winner.  It is heartening to see such drive and commitment in UK manufacturing.”

Perry Shead from Elster Water Metering said:

‘‘We are thrilled to have received the award for Customer Focus. This prestigious accolade recognises the colossal contribution that everyone in the company has made to develop our world class manufacturing, class leading product innovation and close customer relationships.”

The Manufacturing Excellence Awards programme has been helping UK manufacturing companies improve for over 30 years. This year marks the launch of a new, streamlined online process aimed at easing the path to gaining individually tailored expert advice.
