Elster Metering in the UK uses electricity generated from renewable sources
Elster Metering Limited, part of Elster Group, a world leader in advanced metering infrastructure, integrated metering, and utilisation solutions to the gas, electricity and water industries announces that for 2010 it will be using electricity supplied from renewable sources.
“We are delighted to be sourcing our electricity for our UK metering facilities from renewable sources. Over recent years there has been a positive rise in environmental awareness. In line with Government legislation, Elster Metering are setting environmental standards and targets for 2010. As a result purchasing electricity that is guaranteed to have been produced in a more environmental friendly manner makes perfect sense,” commented Elster’s Quality Manager, Nigel Maynard.
The renewable electricity will be purchased by all of Elster Metering’s manufacturing facilities in the UK and will come from auditable low CO2 impact sources such as wind, hydroelectric, tidal or biomass power.
In 2009, Elster Metering were also successful in achieving the CEMARS certification (Certified Emissions Management and Reporting Scheme) with the aim of reducing their carbon footprint.
