What is Wavenis® technology?
Wavenis® is a highly optimized wireless technology for M2M and WSN applications developed by Coronis Systems, an Elster company. With a finely tuned balance of long-range wireless connectivity and ultra-low power consumption, Wavenis offers a host of features to simplify network installation, remote control, data monitoring, and automated 2-way communications for metering and other applications.

What makes Wavenis® technology unique?
Wavenis® was designed for reliability, power savings, network coexistence, robustness against interferers. It has a significant range and power advantages over other so-called ultra-low-power wireless technologies. It supports asynchronous or synchronous operation depending on network size and application. A Wavenis® deployment is easy to setup and is available to use virtually anywhere in the world as it uses the globally recognised license-free ISM bands (868, 915 and 433 MHz).

What affects battery life?

Why are 433, 868, 915Hz frequencies used?
These are the most widely used radio frequency bands which are available license-free in most parts of the world.

What is FHSS?
FHSS stands for Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum is a method of transmitting radio signals by rapidly switching a carrier among many frequency channels (hopping), using a pseudorandom sequence known to both transmitter and receiver. The main advantages of using this technique for radio transmission are: signals are highly resistant to narrowband interference; they are difficult to intercept; and, since transmissions can share a frequency band with many types of conventional transmissions with minimal interference bandwidth can be utilized more efficiently.
