What is the best way to start with Intelligent Metering?
It depends where you are in the AMR pathway (already have an installed base?) and what goals you want to achieve. Typically, utilities start with mobile AMR in which they can evaluate the advantages of AMR in a constricted area and using their existing resources. A pilot project helps them see AMR in a real life situation and determine which kind of installation (mobile or fixed network) best suits their needs and assess the real benefits for their particular circumstances.

Are the Elster solutions customisable?
Elster Emeris Intelligent Metering comprises four solutions which take customers from trial through to a full scale deployment. The Emeris Intelligent Metering solutions include:

What if at some point I want to move from mobile to fixed network? Do I have to replace my existing equipment?
No. One of the key advantages of the Elster Intelligent Metering solutions is that the underlying technology allows for full scalability. Hence, all you need to do when expanding or moving from mobile to fixed network is to add more radios, repeaters and concentrators as needed.
A combination of both mobile and fixed network is also possible with Elster's Emeris technology".
