A3 ALPHA meter
The A3 ALPHA® meter uses Elster'spatented digital measurement techniques that offer high accuracy, repeatability, and low ownership costs. Building upon standard meter design that includes form consolidation, voltage and class consolidations, 0.2% accuracy class meters, functional scalability and standard two week lead times, the A3 ALPHA meter is available in single phase and polyphase form factors.
The A3 ALPHA meter is a communications platform, and it can be easily integrated into a variety of automated meter reading (AMR) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solutions by adding option boards to the meter.

DCSI UMT-C-A3
The UMT-C module retrieves billing data directly from the A3 ALPHA meter registers and transmits it over the TWACS power line system to the TWACS Net Server. The UMT-C-A3 can be installed under the cover on a demand meter (A3D), a TOU meter (A3T), an apparent power meter (A3K), a reactive meter (A3R), and a bidirectional energy meter (A3Q).
Itron 50ESS ERT
The 50ESS ERT retrieves all billing data directly from the meter registers and transmits it to any of the Itron radio-based off-site and automated meter reading systems:
- Handheld OMR
- Mobile AMR
- MicroNet AMR
- Fixed Network AMR
Supported Itron meter reading and software solutions include: Premierplus4, MV-RS, and Intergrator.

EnergyAxis System
Elster's EnergyAxis® is an open standards-based advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system that improves efficiency and productivity, increases revenue by minimizing uncollectables and theft, and improves customer service. EnergyAxis provides intelligent, self-healing, two-way communications to all electric metering endpoints for scheduled and on-request reporting of energy, TOU demand, load profile, status, outage counts, and voltage. For residential meters, an optional internal service control switch can remotely disconnect and reconnect electricity service.
The capability of the EnergyAxis mesh communications network enables sophisticated billing and systems data collection, automated account management, and provides alerts for different events (such as outages, tamper indicators, and other system anomalies).
Elster is committed to supporting utilty initiatives in energy conservation. Through its open architecture, EnergyAxis is able to integrate with third party electric load control devices, demand-side management devices, in-home displays, and pre-payment services.
Within EnergyAxis, the A3 ALPHA meter can act as the local area collector. When acting as a collector, the A3 ALPHA meter serves two functions: as the data collector and as a meter. In addition, the A3 ALPHA meter can function simply as an endpoint (also called a "node") within the EnergyAxis system without serving as a collector.
